This is an exciting and varied development role for the successful applicant to join the R&D Team at Taylors of Harrogate. As the Trainee R&D Packaging Technologist, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of different packaging formats across our product portfolio, alongside taking ownership of reject management within supplier technical performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Arranging trials to support the continuous improvement and development of packaging materials in conjunction with Production and Packaging Buying.
  • Supporting Production with packaging issues on lines, liaising with suppliers to improve their technical performance.
  • Support the management of the packaging specifications and proofs ensuring that there is a set of quality standards for every packaging item.
  • Assist the R&D Packaging Technical team with new/existing product development projects.

The successful candidate will be passionate about packaging, with an interest in developing this further. You will be technically qualified or have a scientific background, be proficient in MS Office and prepared to use more IT systems and processes. You will be able to demonstrate abilities in problem solving and scientific reporting.

Excellent internal and external communication skills, along with strong organisation, time management and attention to detail skills are essential. The ability to prioritise work and negotiate to ensure that deadlines are achieved are key to this role.
