An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Control and Systems Engineer to join our engineering team as part of a job share. The right person for this role will be confident and self-motivated and able to be flexible in line with the needs of the business. As Control and Systems Engineer your key responsibility will be to ensure that all Electrical/Electronic Control, HMI & SCADA Systems for Production/Operations are supported, maintained, developed, and improved where necessary. In addition to this, you will be responsible for the upskilling of other engineers in the area. Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role in a food/FMCG manufacturing environment and will be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Technical skills / experience required:

  • Qualified to a minimum of HNC/D in electrical/electronic engineering
  • High level of electrical fault-finding skills
  • Must have ideally 2+ years previous experience in a Controls Engineer role or similar, ideally within the FMCG industry
  • Competent in the Programming of PLC’s, SCADA/HMIs and variable frequency drives (TIA, Codesys, CX Programmer, GX Developer)
  • Desirable knowledge of OPC UA, SQL and automated data capture (ERP/MES Integration)
  • Develop effective use of SCADA and MES data to support manufacturing and utility operations
  • Working with different network protocols; Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus etc
  • Control panel/electrical schematic design, installations, and commissioning
  • Knowledge of high-speed manufacturing equipment
  • Good IT skills - Word, Excel, CAD, MS Project
  • Experience of Machinery Safety – PUWER and CE/UKCA Marking, Machinery Directive/British Standards
  • Develop training documents and support training for onsite Electrical Engineers
  • Development and preparation of Functional Design Specifications for control systems and networks for new and existing equipment

Working hours will be 4 days per week to be worked flexibly.
