To help support our ambitious plans, we are looking to recruit 5 Graduates to join Taylors of Harrogate in 2019’s Graduate cohort in the following roles;
- Marketing and Sales (2 roles)
- Human Resources
Our scheme offers graduates many exciting opportunities to be involved in collaboratively designed programmes, to enable you to begin your development journey into becoming successful functional and technical experts of the future.
The structure of the scheme is designed to support your transition into our business, after an induction period you will commence a two-year programme in a role, delivering key projects for the business. Your programme will be split into designated placements which will give you exposure to relevant and adjacent disciplines, with opportunities for being involved and contributing to the business’ successful future.
You will have development opportunities which are second to none, these include skills workshops, leadership development and access to a dedicated 1:1 developer to ensure you achieve your full potential. At the end of the programme, it is expected that you will be well equipped for a permanent role within the business.
The Graduate Roles:
Marketing & Sales
This is a unique opportunity for graduates who have a desire to establish a career within the Marketing and Sales profession with a view to developing a broad range of skills and experience in a cross functional way. The Marketing & Sales Graduate will undertake placements spanning; customer management, consumer/shopper insight, innovation, category management, commercial finance and brand management disciplines.
Our ideal graduates will have high levels of positivity and motivation, will be willing to learn and able to work both cross functionally and on an individual basis. This role will involve communicating directly with consumers and creating strong relationships internally, so it is essential the candidates have both good written and presentation skills and are able to communicate effectively at all levels. Successful candidates must be able to work well under pressure and time constraints, remaining calm and productive at busy times. A willingness to ‘pitch in’ is essential.
Graduates should aspire to achieving professional marketing qualifications. This role will include regular travel to various consumer/promotional sites and a wide range of marketing activities and projects.
We constantly strive for our engineering and manufacturing operations to be best in class, which enables our fantastic range of quality products to be made to the highest standards. As part of this scheme we have an opportunity for an Operations Graduate to join the Manufacturing team, who wishes to progress to a career in this sector.
Following an initial induction around operations to gain an appreciation of other operational functions, your main placement will be line management of an area in manufacturing.
Our ideal graduate will have a passion for working with people with excellent interpersonal skills be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with people to deliver both day to day and necessary projects. A naturally inquisitive, innovative and creative thinker, who takes both an ‘outside the box’ yet logical approach to problem solving. You will be highly analytical and be process driven, coupled with a genuine love for data and systems analysis. We are looking for someone who has a Manufacturing and Business Process or Engineering or Operations related undergraduate degree.
Flexibility, passion and a positive attitude are also fundamental. Flexibility to work shifts will be required to fall in line with our production shift patterns whilst line managing an area in manufacturing.
Quality tea, coffee and packaging is the life blood of the Taylors of Harrogate business and sits at the heart of everything we do. Our Sourcing Teams hunt down some of the best available ingredients working closely with our Sustainability team to ensure that these are ethically produced and meet our stringent food safety standard. We carefully take our raw materials and create unique and differentiated products enabled and driven by our Research and Development Team. We are a values led business and how we approach business sets us apart and makes us truly unique. How we do things is as important as what we do enabled by strong and enduring relationships externally and internally. The world is fast changing and the challenges significant and we are excited to offer a graduate programme that sees the successful applicant work on project based placements through the varied disciplines of Supply which include Sourcing, Sustainability and Research and Development.
The successful candidate will also be developed in to the intelligent collator to further develop and revise our award winning Taylors Sourcing Approach – an integrated approach securing our quality tea, coffee and packaging sustainably for generations to come.
Our ideal candidate will be passionate about food and drink and have an active interest in social and environmental issues locally and globally. They will be a forward thinker who can consider the longer term effects and impacts with the ability to consider commerciality and compassion. They will be naturally inquisitive and not afraid to challenge with the ability to work independently and as a key team member. Flexibility, positivity, resilience and adaptability are fundamental to this role as is the genuine care and passion to make a positive difference. Whilst a degree is important, mindset, attitude and aptitude matter more. Food Science, Economics, Geography, Environmental Studies, Business and Spanish are all relevant and useful disciplines.
Our value chain and networks stretch globally and the flexibility to travel Internationally to developing countries will form part of the placement.
This is an exciting opportunity for graduates who have a desire to establish a career within the broad HR function with a view to developing a broad range of skills and experience. The HR graduates placements will give them the opportunity to experience generalist HR (recruitment, employee relations, employment law, talent management) alongside some specialist areas such as Learning & Development, Reward and policy development.
Our ideal candidate must have a genuine interest in people and how to enhance their experience as an employee of a business. As part of the Taylors HR team, you will provide HR services and support to the Taylors business as well as working cross functionally across the Group on key activities and projects, so it is essential that candidates are able to communicate effectively at all levels and have both good written and presentations skills. Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints, remaining calm and productive at busy times and a willingness to ‘pitch in’ are essential. Personal qualities we are looking for – high levels of positive energy, a willingness to learn, friendly, polite, proactive, ambitious and self motivated, reliable and the ability to work as part of a team and autonomously. We are looking for someone who has a Human Resource Management, Psychology, Business Studies or equivalent undergraduate degree.
Graduates should aspire to achieving the professional CIPD qualifications.
Who we are looking for…
The right candidates for our graduate scheme will be positive, confident and self-motivated and able to be flexible in line with the needs of the business. You will possess high levels of attention to detail and be able to work confidently both as part of a team and individually. The ability to identify problems and work with others to find solutions will also be required, coupled with the drive energy and enthusiasm to develop within a Food / FMCG manufacturing environment.
We need positive, motivated, engaged and flexible individuals with a genuine desire to work as part of a team to create success for our business. You will also need to: –
- Have or be expecting to receive a minimum 2:2 Undergraduate Degree or above (in relevant disciplines), although a 2:1 would be highly preferable
- Have GSCE (or equivalent) qualifications in English, Mathematics (all roles) and Science (Operations & Supply only) at Grade C or above
- Have a proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Be eligible to work in the UK
- Be available to attend an Assessment Centre on 22nd, 24th, 25th or 26th July 2019
- Be available for a start date of 9th September 2019
