Rimla Akhtar OBE
Dr Rimla Akhtar is a Chartered Accountant who started her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers. She co-founded the global Muslim Women in Sport Network and became the first Muslim and Asian woman on the Football Association (FA) Council, where she oversaw the strategy and finances for the entire National League System and grassroots game, in addition to her role on the FA Inclusion Advisory Board. In 2015 she was awarded an MBE and in 2021 an OBE for her contribution to equality and diversity in sport.
Rimla also holds a number of additional non-executive roles across business and sport including at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, the Rugby Football League – where she was also Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and the Inclusion Board – and the Sports Ground Safety Authority.
