Chair of the Board
Lesley joined the family business in 1979 and soon became deeply involved in maintaining and developing Bettys high standards of products and service. This culminated in her being responsible for the running of the Bettys business, whilst also contributing to packaging design at Taylors.
Creativity has always been at the heart of both Lesley’s work and home lives. It was the foundation upon which Bettys & Taylors was built and remains central to the business today.
Her love of sharing good food and the craft of cooking with others – especially children – prompted her to open Bettys Cookery School in 2001. She is also the author of A Year of Family Recipes, a personal collection of favourite dishes – some handed down by the family – promoting especially the importance of using seasonal produce.
Lesley has been involved with the University of York since 2000, was a member of the University Council (2005 – 2015) and a Pro-Chancellor (2008 – 2015). She has been a Merchant Adventurer since 2008 and is involved in both the civic and business life of the City. Lesley is married to Jonathan Wild who retired as Chief Executive Officer of the family business in 2011.
